Easily one of the greatest shooting titles from any generation, Gunstar Heroes set new standards for the genre and helped define the 16-bit generation with its incredible graphics, overwhelming challenge, and intense level of action. Not only did the game provide one of the most adaptable weapon systems around, it also boasted some of the most amazing boss characters from the time period; not to mention a terrific art style and technological brilliance matched by few others. Unfortunately, Gunstar Heroes never really caught on with mainstream audiences and was somewhat buried beneath a flood of more popular franchise characters and the increased competition provided by Nintendo's Super NES system. It's a lost gem in every sense of the word.
