War Machine Walks Away With $50,000, Fame and Adulation
NCsoft Europe and ArenaNet, developer of the
award-winning online role-playing game Guild Wars, are extremely
pleased to announce that on Saturday 26th August War Machine of Korea
was crowned Guild Wars Factions World Champion, walking away with
$50,000 of the $100,000 prize money, bringing War Machine's total
earnings in the last three months up to $75,000. Runners up Idiot
Savants of America also took home a healthy $25,000.
The Guild
Wars Factions World Championship saw the return of five guilds from the
Guild Wars World Championship which took place in Taiwan earlier this
year, as well as a sixth open-invitational qualifier. These top players
participated in a highly-competitive three-month series earlier this
year, and earned their much sought after seats by rising to the top of
hundreds of thousands of competitors from around the world.
This
momentous event has firmly established Guild Wars' place in the focused
world of e-sports, deservedly taking its place alongside the firmly
entrenched Real Time Strategy (RTS) and First Person Shooter (FPS)
genres as a completely new type of competitive computer game.
Guild
Wars Nightfall is the next campaign in the wildly successful and
critically acclaimed Guild Wars series. Guild Wars is an online
role-playing game where players explore a rich fantasy world, acquire
skills, build personalised characters, and compete in head-to-head
battles with players from around the world. ArenaNet attributes the
success of Guild Wars to compelling game design, innovative technology
that offers a unique online game play experience and a revolutionary
business model with no monthly subscription fees charged to users.
