Voom HD Networks' GamePlay HD, the high-definition channel leading the next generation of television for gamers, announced today three new series in its rapidly growing slate of original programming. The newest titles, In Play, Raw Play and the Gameplay Documentary Series will roll out through the fall and into Q1 2007.
GamePlay HD is part of VOOM HD Networks, a critically acclaimed collection of 15 high definition channels, currently available nationwide on the DISH satellite network. As one of largest producers and programmers of HD content in the world today, VOOM offers the most diverse variety of HD programming available anywhere, meeting the growing consumer demand for high-definition fare.
GAMEPLAY HD is creating a new breed of television, targeted to the 76 million gamers in the U.S.. Mark DeAngelis, VP of Programming and Development at VOOM HD Networks, explained, "We are creating an experience that enhances and expands on what gamers get from playing the games they love, right at the time when gaming itself has moved into high definition. More than that, we are producing a new kind of programming, made especially for HD, that evolves from the exciting technologies and aesthetics the gaming industry has spawned."
Following is additional information on GAMEPLAY HD'S three new original series:
In Play (4 episodes; ˝ hour) In Play cuts together the best moments showcasing gameplay from some of the most popular video games featured from both PC and XBOX 360 platforms. The show is high action capturing the highlights from the game with the beauty of 3D animated high-definition graphics and the brilliance of expert play with games including Prince of Persia and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter from Ubisoft, Amped 3 from 2K Sports and Getting Up from Atari. The series premieres this month and airs throughout November.
Raw Play (8 episodes; 2 hour) Raw Play is a virtually uncut experience of "raw gameplay" as if the viewer were watching over the shoulder of a gamer playing a game. The two-hour series features the successes to the failures, the the right way to the wrong from start to the finish. From the action-filled gameplay, to the cinematic cut-scenes, to all the set-up screens in between, Raw Play takes every element of playing a high- definition video game and leaves nothing out. Games featured include Ghost Recon from Ubisoft. The series premieres in November with new episodes airing throughout fourth quarter.
Gameplay Documentary Series (4 episodes; 1 hour) GAMEPLAY HD's documentary series is an in-depth look at the gaming industry and the creative wizards behind the games, with strong storylines, one-on-one interviews with industry legends and exploration of the global gaming phenomena.
GamePlay HD launched in February of 2006 as a 24/7 High Definition video game network. The channel features three tiers of entertainment including news & information from the industry, original series & specials, and tournaments & competitions from around the world. Among numerous original series already on air are CinemAddicts, a co-creation with CNET's GameSpot where viewers are presented a cinematic video game experience through some of the best next generation games out there and The Art of Play, a show that gives viewers a full access pass inside next generation games through stunning gameplay footage, in-game cinematics, and voice-over that take viewers on a visceral tour through each game's highlights. Games featured include: Microsoft's PGR3 and Ubisoft's Beyond Good & Evil.
