Three million units shipped as Pro Evolution Soccer 6 continues its phenomenal year-on-year growth!
Konami is celebrating the phenomenal
pan-European success of the recently-released Pro Evolution Soccer 6
for PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD, with over three million units
shipped on its launch weekend.
Released on October 26th, three
million copies of the game were shipped across Europe to meet demand.
Initial sell-through of the eagerly-awaited title was excellent, as
hundreds of thousands of new users spent the last weekend familiarising
themselves with the new moves and techniques PES6 offers in abundance.
Such
high sales also saw Pro Evolution Soccer 6 secure the Number One slot
in a number of territories, and also enjoyed a significant sell-through
increase over last year's game. The debut of the series on Xbox 360 has
been well received, too, with the first next-generation version of Pro
Evolution Soccer performing incredibly well, while demand for both the
PlayStation 2 and PC-DVD versions has also grown.
"We are
delighted that, once again, Pro Evolution Soccer continues to be so
well accepted," commented Kunio Neo, President of Konami. "In an industry known for its constant changes, Pro
Evolution Soccer is one of the few brands to increase sales year on
year. Globally, it is now the best-selling product within Konami
Digital Entertainment and we are extremely proud to be contributing
such tremendous figures towards the ongoing success of Konami. Now we
look to the PSP version continuing the success
in December, and the Nintendo DS version in January."
