Icarus Studios Writer/Lead Game Designer to Discuss "Fallen Earth"
Wake Technical Community College today announced that Lee Hammock, the
lead game designer for "Fallen Earth" at Icarus Studios, will be
speaking on Monday, Dec. 11, at 12:15 p.m. in the Technical Education
Building, Room 105A, on the college's main campus off of U.S. 401
South. Hammock will provide an overview of the game design process at a
small start-up company, talk about a typical work week, and discuss the
pros and cons of working for a small company. The lecture, part of a
series hosted by the college's simulation and game development
curriculum and sponsored by the National Science Foundation, is free
and open to the public.
Hammock began writing for role-playing
games in 1996 while attending the University of Georgia. After
graduating with a bachelor's degree in English and management
information systems, he moved to New York City, where he worked in
advertising and later for DC Comics. In 2004, he left DC Comics for a
full-time writing career, working on projects such as the best-selling
"Vs. System Trading Card Game" by Upper Deck Entertainment, the
ENnie-nominated role-playing game "Dawning Star," and numerous licensed
comic books, including "Halo Graphic Novel." Hammock joined Icarus
Studios in 2005.
A new digital game lecture series will begin in
January 2007 with all new topics. For more information, contact Walter
Rotenberry at (919) 662-3535 or
