Reshuffle sees Martin Mathers join from Imagine
Future today announces changes to the editorial and publishing teams of
its Official Nintendo Magazine. Lee Nutter takes on the newly created
position of Assistant Publisher, with Chandra Nair appointed Editor.
The reshuffle is further strengthened by the news that the former
Editor of Imagine's nRevolution, Martin Mathers has joined Future to
work on the magazine.
A veteran games journalist, Lee Nutter
began his career more than a decade ago on Emap's Official Sega Saturn
Magazine, and was Editor of PSW for Computec for a number of years
before moving with the title to Future in 2003. In late 2005, Lee
joined the team creating Future's tender for the Nintendo Licence. The
all-new Official Nintendo Magazine launched in January 2006 to great
acclaim.
In his new role as Assistant Publisher, Lee is briefed
with managing Future's relationship with Nintendo “ as well as working
on a number of additional projects, including several Official Nintendo
Magazine specials this year “ kicking off with the DS Special Edition,
on sale Thursday, 1st February.
Lee is replaced as Editor on
Official Nintendo Magazine by former Associate Editor, Chandra Nair. A
lifelong Nintendo fan, Chandra was previously Deputy Editor of
Highbury's independent Nintendo title, Cube. Tasked with taking the
magazine forward“ Chandra and the team will seek to further build the
title's monthly readership, on the back of the Wii's successful debut,
and the continued growth of the Nintendo DS.
The team is further
strengthened by the arrival of new Deputy Editor, Martin Mathers “ who
joins Future from Bournemouth-based Imagine. Formerly the Editor of
multi-format title, GamesTM, Mathers was influential as Editor on both
X360 and Imagine's recent launch, nRevolution. He previously worked
with Chandra on Highbury's Cube for three years.
Group Publisher, Mia Walter said:
"These
changes are fantastic news for readers of Official Nintendo Magazine.
I'm delighted to welcome Lee to the publishing team. He's done a
fantastic job launching the magazine and is ready to take on this
senior role. His new position will see him continue his close working
relationship with Nintendo, as we work hard to ensure that Future's
newest official publishing partnership continues to go from strength to
strength.
"Chandra played an essential supportive role to Lee
throughout the launch and first year of the title and was the clear
choice to continue Official Nintendo Magazine's development as Editor.
I'm also excited that Martin has chosen to further his career at
Future, and will be the perfect addition to our team. His editorial
experience will help to develop our offering, and enables us to build
the strongest possible team for the Official title, as consumer
interest continues to grow in both Nintendo's DS and Wii consoles."
