Nintendo Legends Headline Virtual Console! (Europe)

Two of Nintendo's iconic heroes take center stage on Wii's innovative Virtual Console this week.

Transport back to the early 90's with the much-loved SNES classic Super Mario World and reacquaint yourself with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach in what was the biggest Mario game of its time! As the first game to introduce everyone's favourite dinosaur, Yoshi, as Mario's controllable sidekick, get yourself ready relive the game that set the bar for all subsequent side“scrolling titles. Super Mario World is available for download from today for 800 Wii Points.

But we don't want to give you just one legendary character “ how about another? Get ready to draw your sword and join Link on his second epic adventure on NES, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, available to download for 500 Wii Points. This game featured a brand new adventure and many elements that would later become essential features for the franchise.

As if that wasn't enough, Wii owners will also be able to download Vigilante, originally for TurboGrafx (PC Engine) from today. These join 46 classic titles already available for the Virtual Console in Europe. Since launch a staggering 1.5 million games have been downloaded worldwide from the service.
