Exclusive Hardware Sponsorship With Philips Includes The Formation Of The "WCG Philips amBX Cup Challenge" “ A New WCG Sanctioned Gaming Tournament Utilizing The Immersive amBX Gaming Peripherals
The World Cyber Games (WCG), the recognized blue chip leader for international
video game competitions, today announced a comprehensive partnership with
consumer electronic leader, Philips Electronics' Gaming & Peripherals division.
As an "Official Global Partner" for the next three years, Philips' exclusive
hardware sponsorship designates Philips amBX accessories as the official Ambient
Gaming Environment Systems at select WCG global events. Through the deal, the
World Cyber Games will add a new element to their competitions -- the WCG
Philips amBX Cup Challenge, -- as well as integrate the amBX peripheral devices
into selected gaming stations. The announcement was made by Michael Arzt, senior
vice president and general manager of International Cyber Marketing USA,
organizer of the WCG.
"We are pleased to welcome another top global brand to our growing list of
incredible partners." said Hyoung Seok Kim, president and CEO of International
Cyber Marketing USA, organizer of the WCG. "The Philips' amBX Cup Challenge adds
an all-new and spectacular element to our events, by providing gamers and
spectators with a glimpse at the true immersive experience that amBX peripherals
can provide," added Arzt.
A range of peripherals that will forever change the way players experience
PC gaming, the USB connected amBX products bring the gamer one step closer to
the action by immersing them in the game itself through sensory stimulation.
Adding an all-new element to the overall World Cyber Games experience, amBX
peripherals will be featured in a variety of ways at WCG events highlighted by
the WCG Philips amBX Cup Challenge -- a mini "winner take all" tournament that
will take place on stage at the WCG Grand Final, WCG USA Championship, WCG US
Open, WCG Pan European Championship, WCG Pan Asian Championship, WCG Pan
American Championship and the WCG US Regional Championships. During the
Challenge, professional gamers will compete on systems with amBX peripherals,
providing sound, light, wind and vibration effects that will enhance game play
and create an immersive experience for players and spectators alike. The winner
of the tournament will receive the Philips amBX Cup and be recognized as the
best player in the toughest game environment.
"Working with the World Cyber Games is a great opportunity for Philips to
showcase the power of amBX and further immerse gamers into the competition,"
said Engelbert van Pelt, General Manager New Business Development at Philips.
"Both Philips' and the World Cyber Games' goal is to create an amazing
experience for the gamers. We believe the amBX peripherals and the amBX Cup adds
a new level of immersive playing never before experienced in the World Cyber
Game events."
